MidWest Leadership School is sponsored by the Central MidWest District, in collaboration with Heartland District and Prairie Star District of the Unitarian Universalist Association of Congregations.
MidWest Leadership School (MWLS) develops lay leaders in the Unitarian Universalist (UU) community. The week-long intense program includes leadership, group and system dynamics, UU history and theology, and elements of worship. The program is designed to provide insights, confidence, and enrichment for each participant’s congregation, work, and personal life.

MidAmerica Youth Advisor WebinarsInspired by the good work of Anne-Marie Davidson, Youth Coordinator in the Pacific Northwest District of the UUA, who had the notion to offer a series of youth advisor virtual webinar sessions, we will now be offering our own series here in MidAmerica. This last September, I offered 2 “Basic Youth Advisor” webinar sessions, which were well attended, but there were many requests for more sessions. The hour-long evening sessions will include resource sharing and coaching for new and continuing youth advisors and youth coordinators. District Assembly 2012
"Leadership Development with a UU Spiritual Core" will be the theme of the 2012 District Assembly, to be held in the Chicagoland area at the Marriott Oak Brook Hill Resort on April 27-29. Because you asked for it, we are going back to having a full weekend DA -- and the Banner Parade returns!
Friday night's opening ceremony will feature special guest Rev. Bill Schulz, president of the Unitarian Universalist Service Committee and past president of the UUA. Rev. Marilyn Sewell will be our keynote presenter on Saturday morning. She has been interested in the theological and spiritual dimensions of leadership development for some time and is looking forward to exploring this with us. There will be two sessions of workshops on Saturday afternoon and then in the evening, we will show Rev. Sunday morning, the winner of our DA Sermon Contest will lead a worship service open to all.
